Richard Parley Bright, 56, beloved husband, father and grandfather, has returned home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 19, 1997.
Richard was born in Downey, Idaho November 29, 1939, the youngest of five children to Elmer Parley Bright and Mary Emily Taylor Bright. He was reared and educated in the Downey area, and later attended Pocatello high School.
Richard enlisted into the Navy in 1958, and served 10 years. He served on the Lexington aircraft carrier and the Loftburg destroyer.
He married Caroly Jean Underwood on January 8, 1959 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with four daughters and one son.
After the service he was employed by RORH Industries in the data processing department in California. The family moved back to Pocatello in 1975. He worked in data processing, including B-E and FMC. He was currently employed at the FBI data center as a supervisor for the past 12 years.
Richard was a member of the LDS Church where he served in various positions in several wards. Richard took great pride and joy in his family and grandkids.
His hobbies included fishing, gardening, cooking, working with wood and caring for animals. Through his interests he gained knowledge in many fields.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean; four daughters and husbands, Jennifer and Eric Emfield of Chubbuck, Teresa and Jeff Horrocks of Pocatello; Stephanie and Dave Horton of Pocatello; Michele and Tom Chatterton of Pocatello; one son, Christopher P. Bright of Virginia, Idaho; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ilene England of Pocatello, Pat and Lyle Johnson of Pocatello, Virginia and Richard Christensen of Virginia, Idaho one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Parcia Bright of Pocatello; seven grandsons, Greg and Robbie Emfield, Brent and Bryce Horrocks, Garrett and Brennan Horton, and T.J. Chatterton; and six granddaughters, Tasha and Megan Horrocks; Janelle Emfield, Ashton Horton Mayce and Madison Chatterton. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elmer and Mary Emily Bright, and brother-in-law Miles S. England.
He will be sorely missed and always loved.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 1997 at the Virginia LDS Ward Chapel, Bishop Randy Buxton officiating. Viewing will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave, Pocatello; and one hour prior to the services at the church Saturday. Burial will follow at the Downey Cemetery.
Richard Parley Bright, 57, of Virginia, died at his home Wednesday, March 19, 1997 of an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Virginia LDS Ward Chapel.
A viewing will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 21 at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave. Pocatello, and for one hour before the services at the church Saturday.
