Rea “Gene” Eugene Neal

Gene Neal, 57, passed from the arms of his family and friends here on earth into the arms of his family and friends in heaven on November 30, 2012.

Gene was born May 14, 1955 in Hawthorne, Nevada to William Elton (Bill) and Arvilla Marie Evans Neal.

Gene grew up in a loving home with kind and gentle parents. He spent his youth in Ogden & Tremonton, Utah and Sebastopol, California. Gene learned to love water in California where he played in the rivers, streams, and ocean. He graduated in 1973 from Analy High School where he excelled in football, track and baseball.

After high school he proudly joined the United States Army, serving most of his time in Germany. Gene met Peggy Ann Gunderson while serving in Germany. They were married in the state of Wisconsin and moved back to Malad, Idaho where Gene’s family ties were. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Brydee Marie and Tatum Job. Gene cherished his children who were his pride and joy. Gene and Peggy were eventually divorced.

Gene later met and fell in love with Tammie Kaye Holmes. They were married and made their home in the Malad Valley. Gene and Tammie spent time on the water in their boat, fishing, camping and enjoying life in the great outdoors. Gene’s career as a semi-truck driver kept him busy driving across the country throughout most of his adult life.

Gene is survived by his wife, Tammie Neal of Malad; his two children, Brydee (Jesse) White, of Portland, Oregon, and Tatum (Crystal) Neal of Weston, Wisconsin; his five grandchildren, Kai and Ruby White and Aubrey, Carter, and Parker Neal; his parents, Bill and Marie Neal; his sister, Ireta (Eric) Norstrom; his two brothers, Max (Rhonda) Neal and Clair (Machelle) Neal, all of Malad.
