Lava Hot Springs…Raymond Benglan, 58, passed away at his home in Lava Hot Springs, ID on January 14, 2014. He is survived by his two sons Randy and Josef Benglan, his daughter and son-in-law Hilairy and Tyler Diller, his twin daughters Haylee and Kallee Benglan, his elder brother Jürgen Benglan, and his nieces Kathy and JayLynn Benglan.
Raymond’s parents, Josef Benglan and Elsa Bierwolf Benglan, emigrated from Germany to Salt Lake City, Utah after WWII where Raymond was born on March 10, 1955. At the age of 12, he and his parents moved to Lava Hot Springs, ID. He enjoyed scouting and getting into mischief with his friends. Growing up, Raymond had a passion for restoring classic cars—a hobby that he enjoyed his entire life. At his passing he had 5 classic cars in various stages of restoration. He graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1973 and studied welding at Idaho State University. In 1975, Raymond married Georgena Fawn Davids. They had three children together: Josef, Randy, and Hilairy. In 1990, Raymond met Jackie. Together they had twin daughters: Haylee and Kallee. Raymond worked for Monsanto Corporation in Soda Springs, ID for 28 years until he retired in 2012. Raymond loved his retirement! He described his retirement as “You know when you’re a kid and you have summer break? It’s like that, but all the time!”
Raymond had a zest for life! His children were the love of his life. He loved spending time with his family doing the things he loved most: golfing; soaking at the hot pools; going to basketball games; boating at Bear Lake, Lake Mead, & Red Fish Lake; attending stock car races & demolition derbies; and many other things. Words can’t express the loss we feel at his passing. We look forward to being with him again in the next life. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2012 at 12 noon in the Lava LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with the family at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
