YEARSLEY, RALPH DEE, December 26, 1913 – September 15, 2006
It was a cool Friday evening on September 15, 2006, that Ralph Dee Yearsley passed away from this mortal life at the age of 92 wonderful years.
He was born December 26, 1913 in Woodruff, ID, a son of Nathan David and Julia Ann Gibbs Yearsley. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. He was a home teacher for many years, serving until he was not able to do so.
He married his sweetheart, Eva May Reese on February 16, 1935 in Brigham City, UT. The marriage was solemnized on May 11, 2004 in the Ogden Temple. To this union was born three children: Ralph, Doris and Carol, who were the joy of his life.
Dee loved horses and was known as the one who could break and ride any horse because of his gentle, kind way with them. He did this for many people and retired from this hobby at age 65. He enjoyed working with his son, Ralph, as they prepared and entered many chariot races.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and has trophies to show for this talent. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. After retirement he rode his bicycle and walked to stay healthy. His greatest love was square dancing and he was king of the floor.
Dee worked hard to support his family as a Hod carrier, ranch foreman and with the Utah State Dept. of highways from which he retired. He received a certificate of appreciation for his public service. He was a very dedicated worker in all his endeavors. He was always available for anyone who needed him. He was a very good singer and whistler and entertained many, especially at family parties and reunions.
He was meticulous in his yard, a weed didn’t have a chance of survival. He grew delicious fruit, had a tasty vegetable garden and a beautiful rock flower garden. He took price in all he did and wanted everything to look nice. Everyone was always welcome in his home and he enjoyed his company, especially in his later years.
When Dee was twelve years old his father died and Dee became the caretaker for his mother, sisters and brothers. He also helped them for many years after he was married. When his wife, Eva, became ill he personally cared for her for ten years. He was a very caring and understanding person.
Dee moved to Farr West five years ago to be close to his family so they could help him. He enjoyed being thee and was treated like a king. He had many visitors and his daughter, Doris, spent every day with him. He enjoyed the company of his great grandchild, Porter, who was with him daily.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his lovely wife, Eva; brothers, Melvin, Clifford and Karl; sisters, Ruthinda, Alta and May; and granddaughter, Marcie Dabb Vega.
