Phyllis Mae Bahen Martin, 81, died peacefully on September 16, 2015, in Boise, Idaho after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Pat, as she was known by most of her friends and family, lived many places throughout her life but always considered herself a California girl with Utah roots.

She worked hard to raise six children and enjoyed several careers. She was a beautician, esthetician, a teacher’s aide, and a caregiver but loved to be known by her favorite career as an LPN. Pat attended college to become an LPN when she was 59. She worked at the Malad, Idaho hospital in the nursing home. She loved the residents and took such good care of them. She retired from that career in 2004. Shortly after she retired she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

Pat is survived by her loving children: Jeri (Martin) and Jeff Reid, Robert Martin and Laureen (Weston); Richard Martin and Rosalind (Lopez); Michael Martin and Tina (Ribera); Patricia (Martin) and Kevin Gibbons; Annette (Martin) and Garry Hess. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; mother, Phillis Bahen; siblings, Gordon and Toni (Nutz) Bahen, Dennis and Kristine (Frodsham) Bahen, and Lisa (Bahen) and Dean Ellis.

Pat had many talents and among them were artist, pianist, and ability to make people smile. She loved her family and friends to a fault putting them before herself at times. She often said that her children were her best friends. She loved the Lord and worked hard all her life. Pat had a love of nature and anything beautiful or whimsical. her collection of fairies and angels over the years were a joy. Her love of animals led to her feeding stray cats, chickens, and even a peacock! Her little house was also her joy and comfort. She kept it decorated with her many little pretty ornaments and tea things. Pat was generous with her time and energy. Many people in Malad and Boise have expressed how genuine and caring she was to them, even when she was ill. We love her and will miss her warmth and unconditional love.

Services will be held at Garry and Annette Hess’s home located at 1665 N. 2400 W. Malad, Idaho, on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 12 p.m. Following the services a dedication of the grave will be held at Paradise, Utah Cemetery.
