PHIL RAYMOND PERKINS

MONTPELIER — Phil Raymond Perkins, 58, died May 12 at his home of a heart attack.
He was born June 30, 1918 in Montpelier to W. Louis and Nellie Pearce Perkins. He married Betty Collipriest on Jan. 14, 1941 in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church. He worked for the postal service for nearly 30 years and was appointed postmaster for Montpelier in 1967.

Perkins was a veteran of World War II and had been active in the American Legion. At the time of his death, he was president of the Idaho chapter of the National Association of Postmaster. He graduated from Montpelier High School, and also attended Utah State University. He was also graduated from barber college in Salt Lake City.

Survivors are his widow of Montpelier, two sons, Alan, Montpelier, and Russell, Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Susan) Reiner, mesa, Ariz.; and Meredith of San Diego, Calif.; his mother of Montpelier; four brothers, Douglas, Lynn, Durwood, all of Montpelier, Lowell, Idaho Falls, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Montpelier Stake Center. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday at the mortuary for one hour before service.

Burial will be in the Montpelier City cemetery.
