Paul Vollmer, Jr.

ABERDEEN – Paul Vollmer Jr. 47, died Friday near Malad when his light plane crashed.

He was born Oct. 3, 1932, at Kemmerer, Wyo. to Paul and Nina Portter Vollmer. He moved with his parents to Aberdeen. He attended school in Aberdeen and American Falls, graduating from American Falls High School in 1951. On July 2. 1952 he married Shirley Kendall. He worked with his father in the well drilling business. Following his father’s retirement, he and his brothers formed a partnership and continued the business. Earlier this year he joined Paul Cary and Neil Bershears to design irrigation.

He was a member of the LDS Church. His interests included flying, hunting, fishing, and his family.

Survivors include his wife. Aberdeen; his parents. Aberdeen; one son. Karl. Aberdeen; two daughters. Mrs. Stephen (Laurie) Zimmerman. Stayton. Ore., and Mrs. Bradley (Jan) Shackleford, Aberdeen; two brothers, Kenneth, Aberdeen, and Gary, American Falls; four sisters, Majorie Briggs, Dillon, Mont ; Barbara Ferro, San Francisco, Calif.; Phyllis Morlock, Oxford, Iowa, and Cheryl Volkmen, Boise; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael, and a brother, Meryl.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Aberdeen LDS Chapel with Bishop Leslie Pratt officiating. Burial will be at Fallsview Cemetery in American Falls with Davis Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call at Davis Mortuary in American Falls Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. and Wednesday from 8-11 a.m. , then at the Relief Society Room at the church from noon until service time.
