POCATELLO – Oliver E. Williams, 86, Pocatello, died Wednesday evening, June 14, 2000, at his home following a lingering illness.

He was born May 5, 1914, in Afton, Wyoming, to Thomas Oliver and Rachel Eggleston Williams. He graduated from Malad High School, and also attended the agricultural college in Logan, Utah.

Oliver married Wanda Howell July 23, 1940, in the LDS Logan temple, Logan, Utah.

In his youth he worked in farming. He also worked as an air base supervisor, working on B-19 and B-24 bombers. He worked as a sign painter for the State of Idaho. Oliver worked as an electrician with the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement.

He loved painting, aviation, gardening and his family.

Oliver was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a home teacher, stake missionary, elder’s quorum president, and in various other church callings.

Oliver served with the Civil Air Patrol. He was an avid pilot, who built and flew his own experimental aircraft, Dyke Delta JD2-M. Oliver was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Oliver is survived by his wife, Wanda; one son, Dr. Alan O. Williams, Pueblo, Colorado; two daughters, Linda (Robert) Marley, Pocatello, Kathleen (Rickie) Kirkham, Pocatello; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Cleon Williams, Orem, Utah, one sister, Mary Bright, Bountiful, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Elwood.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 19, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the LDS 52nd Ward, corner of Hawthorne and Quinn Roads, with Bishop John Redd conducting. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, June 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Henderson-Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 North 15th Ave., Pocatello, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church on Monday. Interment will follow services at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.
