Norman Louis Petersen, 30 May 1910

Norman Louis Petersen, 80, died August 18, 1996 at the Crestwood Care Center. He was born May 30, 1910 in Paradise, UT, a son of Louis H. and Gertrude Norman Petersen. He married Myme Fallis in Malad City, ID on October 5, 1929. They have lived in Hyrum and Ogden since their marriage.

Norm was a rancher and farmer in Pocatello Valley, ID all of his life. Working on the ranch with his brother, Reed, gave him his happiest days. The four Petersen brothers, Norm, Vern, Reed and Perc, along with their mother, Gertrude, owned and operated Ben Lomond Lanes Bowling Alley in Ogden.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge #719 and the Idaho Grain Growers Assn. who named him “Farmer of the Year” in 1975. He was also a member of the LDS 54th Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Myme, of 66 years; his daughters, Betty and (Val) Russell, Alamo, CA; Louise Harbinson, San Francisco, CA; his grandchildren Cristine and (Ben) Heinemen, Darien, CT; Ric and (Mia) Russell, Lafayette, CA; Michelle Russell and (John) Mazziotta, Malibu, Ca; Diane and (Kevin) Turner, Alamo, CA. Also eight great grandchildren, Matt and Zack Heineman; Nick and Carolyn Russell; Bree, Kale, Dane and Anders Turner. He is also survived by his brothers Vern and (Buelah), Brigham City; Perc and (Joyce), Jerome, ID; and one sister, Margene Thurston, Salem, OR.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Norman Dean; brothers, Reed and Bobby; sister, Lois Rissler and son-in-law Bill Harbinson.

Funeral services were held August 22, 1996 in Ogden. Interment was at Malad City Cemetery.
