Norman Delno Marble, 81, passed away August 3, 2023, of Natural Causes in Orem, Utah. He was born February 3, 1942 in Odgen, Utah to Burt Orval and Alberta Robbins Marble.
Norman grew up in and around Malad, Idaho on his father’s farm. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission. He married Merrilee Denison on October 5, 1967 in the Logan Utah Temple. Norman served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He was a guard on the Berlin Wall assigned specifically at Checkpoint Charlie and was a chauffeur for high-ranking officials. He also served in the National Guard from 1969 to 1973. He received his Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University, May 26, 1972.
Norman and Merrilee had four sons, Lloyd, Stephen, Jared and Michael, they were able to adopt two daughters from Korea, Mailee and Suzette, to complete their family. Norman was an Industrial Arts teacher in Idaho and in Utah at Pleasant Grove Junior High where he taught Drafting and Woodworking. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings, with his favorite being a Primary and Sunday School teacher. He served a mission in Nauvoo, Illinois with the love of his life, Merrilee. Mom served at several sites in Nauvoo and in the sewing room creating costumes and dad served with Nauvoo Restoration and used his skills to do many tasks and construction. Norman and Merrilee had the lead parts as George and Agatha in the play Rendezvous that the missionaries put on. He shared good humor and his big smile with everyone he met. He loved telling jokes to bring a smile to their face.
Norman is survived by his wife, Merrilee Denison Marble; children, Stephen (Yaniri) Marble, Suzette (Kevin) Hogge, Jared (Sara) Marble, Mailee (Jayme) Woodhouse; daughters-in-law, Jennifer Marble Davis and Faelynn Marble; 28 grandchildren, Tricia (Jake) Drake, BreAnna (Cody) Goff, Juliet (Otto) Ludwig, Elsie (Connor) Petersen, Tommy Milam, Julia (Scott) Sprunt, Elise Marble, Damiano Nannarone, Diego Nannarone, Dylan Nannarone, Kelly Porter, Laurel Hogge, Kierra Jensen, Garrett Hogge, Joseph Hogge, Jacob Marble, Ashley Marble, Marynn Marble, Talmage Marble, Olivia Marble, Ryan Marble, Mallory Marble, Tyler Marble, Samantha Woodhouse, Madeline Woodhouse, Alexia Woodhouse, Jaxon Woodhouse and Kirsten Woodhouse; 2 great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Daniel Drake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert Orval and Alberta Robbins Marble; all his siblings, Glen Marble, Afton Lewis, Mary Atkinson, Charley Ray Marble, Ruby Scott, Bert Marble and Ruth Ann Zaugg; sons, Lloyd Norman Marble and Michael Todd Marble and grandson, Casey Lloyd Marble.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 12th, at 11:00 am, at the Lakeridge 8th Ward located at 80 West 900 South, Orem, Utah, where Viewings will be held Friday, August 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and prior to services on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment with Military Honors in Orem City Cemetery.
