Norma Gleed Oyler

Norma Oyler, 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. She was born November 2, 1923, in Malad City, Idaho, daughter of Ammon and Cora Sorensen and was raised in Arbon Valley and Malad City where she attended school.

On June 10, 1942, Norma married J. Fred Gleed in the Salt Lake Temple and they farmed in the New Canyon area until Fred passed away in 1969. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many capacities, but her special love was her service of music where she led the music and sang at many funerals.

On June 6, 1971, she married Sherman Oyler. She resided, then, in East Garland, Utah, until he passed away June 26, 2007, when she moved back to Malad.

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Marilyn) Gleed and her daughter, Brenda Thomas, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one sister, Gladys Nelson.

From her marriage to Sherman Oyler, survivors are his three sons and two daughters, twenty nine grandchildren, Ninety six great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one brother, one sister, one son-in-law, and one step son.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at noon at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., in Malad. Burial took place in the Malad City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the administration and staff at the Nel J. Redfield Memorial Hospital and the care givers in Long Term Care for their compassionate and loving care given to Norma during her time there.
