Nora Louise Bellon
January 8, 1935 – October 20, 2025

Arimo, Idaho — Nora Louise Howe Bellon, 90, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Quail Ridge Assisted Living in Pocatello, Idaho.

Louise was born on January 8, 1935, in Arimo, Idaho, the second child of Leonard and Iva Howe. She was raised in Robin and Arimo, where she enjoyed time with cousins, riding bikes, and sledding in the winter. She loved loading up in the car with friends, using heated rocks in the winter to stay warm on the way to a movie. Taking care of animals and helping her dad on the farm—especially driving grain trucks—were among her favorite activities.

She graduated from North Marsh High School in 1953. After high school, she went to California to attend dental hygiene school and care for her nephew, Robert. Upon returning to Idaho, she worked at the Lava Hot Springs State Bank.

At the Arimo Fourth of July celebration in 1958, she met Loyal Bellon. They were engaged by September and were sealed on November 21, 1958, in the Logan Temple. They left on their honeymoon with only the loose change from the car’s ashtray, beginning a wonderful life full of happiness and memories.

Louise and Loyal made their home in Ogden, Utah, where they welcomed four children: Vince, Marshall, Ranae, and Lorraine. The family later moved to Pasco, Washington, for a few years before settling in Arimo in 1974. Later, the family welcomed Margret Martinez as a foster daughter. Louise lovingly cared for her for five years and embraced her as part of the family.

She was always up for a good Sunday afternoon drive or a family trip—creating many cherished memories, as long as Loyal didn’t get too close to the edge of a mountain road. Louise was a wonderful homemaker, keeping her home spotless and her family well-fed. She loved to iron, even the pillowcases. Home-baked bread, homemade chili, pies, and potato salad were among the family favorites. Louise dedicated her life to raising her children, always being there when they came home from school and caring for them tenderly when they were sick, often with a comforting serving of milk toast.

She and Loyal loved to dance and spent many years participating in a square-dancing group, where they made lifelong friends. When grandchildren came to visit, no one ever went hungry—waffles were always on the table in the morning, followed by full lunches and dinners. She loved camping and was thrilled when they bought a little pop-up camper, which opened the door to countless camping trips with each other and family.

Louise also enjoyed embroidery and quilting. She made each of her grandchildren a hand-pieced quilt—a treasured keepsake of her love and creativity.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Louise held many callings throughout her life. She served as Relief Society homemaking leader, and her home was adorned with many Relief Society crafts. She especially loved serving in the Young Women organization and attending girls’ camp alongside her husband. One of her favorite callings was serving in the Family History Center with Loyal. The temple was always a special place for her, and she cherished every opportunity to attend. She faithfully supported her husband through his many years of church leadership and service.

Loyal passed away on September 7, 2011, and she missed him deeply. Louise remained in Arimo until 2022, when she moved to Quail Ridge Assisted Living in Pocatello. She is survived by her children: Vincent (Becky) Bellon of Sandy, Utah; Marshall (Merikay) Bellon of Roosevelt, Utah; Ranae (Dell) Walker of Chubbuck, Idaho; Lorraine (Wade) Wheatley of Downey, Idaho; and foster daughter Margret Martinez. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Lowell (Helen) Howe of Sandy, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Loyal, and her younger sister Nola.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Arimo Idaho Stake Center, 286 Henderson Ave., Arimo, Idaho. Friends may call at the church prior to the service from 10:30–11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Arimo City Cemetery.
