Nicholas Reed Summers

Nicholas Reed Summers left this earthly life and was received into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Monday, June 8, 2015.  He was seventeen years old.

Nicholas was born January 28, 1998 in Ogden, Utah. His parents had waited a long time for this sweet boy and were overjoyed to have Nicholas come in to their lives. He was a happy and fun boy who loved his family and his pets. He was known as Nic to his family and close friends. He had a little sister who he loved being a big brother to.  Nic made sure that Alyssa learned how to read and speak correctly before she ever started Kindergarten. He always looked out for his little sister.

Nicholas was going to enter his senior year of high school in the fall. He was preparing to take an EMT class that year with his friend, Angel.  And was looking forward to being a “Certified EMT”.

Nicholas was an avid gamer. He and his dad loved spending time together playing any and all computer games. He also had a great love of recent American history and his teacher often teased him by asking if he would like to teach the class.  Nicholas loved to learn and spent his free time watching videos and podcasts where he could learn new things, especially having to do with science and outer space.  He wanted to be the first one to sign up to go to Mars.  He often went about his household chores one handed, so as not to put down what he was watching.

Nicholas enjoyed camping with his dad and the young men in his LDS ward. They had a lot of fun trips in Southern Utah rappelling and canyoneering.  He was happy to throw his hammock between anything that would hold him up and sleep under the stars.

Pets were always a big part of Nicholas’ life. He loved the dogs and cats that he had over the years.  Most recently he had his dog Sofie to spend quiet moments with. She was a good listener to his teenage thoughts.

Nicholas lived in Kearns, Utah with his parents and his sister Alyssa. He is survived by his parents, Malynda Jean Tubbs Summers and Neil Andrew Summers, his 14 year old sister, Alyssa Jean Summers and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents who loved him very much. He brought joy and fun into all of our lives.  He will be missed by all who knew him. Someday his family will be united again and be together forever.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11 AM in the Western Hills 2nd Ward, 5380 W 5400 S, Kearns.  A visitation will be held on Friday at 6-8 PM at the ward and also 1 hour prior on Saturday. Burial will follow at 3 PM at Malad City Cemetery, Malad, Idaho.
