NEWELL DEAN FUHRIMAN

Newell Dean Fuhriman died at 86 years of age on July 11, 2011 at his home in River heights, Utah.

He was born March 3, 1925 in Providence, Utah, a son of LaVon and Marnie Johnson Fuhriman. He married Anna Fonnesbeck on September 1, 1947. She passed away in 1999.

He proudly served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 aboard the USLST696 in the Pacific, crossing the equator 18 times. He received six bronze stars for meritorious service.

Dean was a successful and respected farmer in Ridgedale (Pocatello Valley), Idaho, where he built upon and enlarged his grandfather’s homestead farm.

He is survived by a daughter, Leslie F. and Don Flaherty Smithfield; two sons, Scott Fuhriman, Ridgedale, ID and Michael and Allene Fuhriman, Elwood, UT; twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Erickson, Gayle Green and Rhonda Farnsworth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; a son, Neil; and a grandson, Dusty Dean Fuhriman.

Graveside services were held July 15 in the Providence City Cemetery with a military tribute by the American Legion.
