SALT LAKE CITY – Myrl Elmer Perry, 71, died Monday [July 31, 1990] at his home in Salt Lake City.

He was born Sept. 27, 1918 in Rockland to George Elmer and Florence Ida Hartley Perry.

He married Carole F. Rickard on Oct. 16, 1976 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Jordan River, Utah LDS Temple on May 4, 1968.

Mr. Perry served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He retired from employment at Wheeler Machine Co.

He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the bishopric and as ward clerk for the Imperial Second Ward. He served a mission to Holland from 1950-52, and a stake missionary, as well as many other church positions.

He is survived by his wife, Carole, Salt Lake City; a son, Darwin G. Perry, Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Merla Joy Perry Lennon, Pocatello, and Jane Ellen Perry Babcock, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Thorne, Murtaugh, and Erma Steidley and Mrs. Edwin C. (Eva) Beitz, both of Rockland; three stepsons, Jeff and Stuart Rickard, San Diego, Calif., and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives, Betty Garrard Perry and Bernice Larsen Perry, his parents and sister, Gwen Ilene.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m. in the South Cottonwood 13th Ward Chapel, 5265 S. Wesley, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Memorial Estates, 5850 S. 900 E., also in Salt Lake, and for one hour at the church on Friday prior to services. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Rockland, with military graveside services at 3 p.m.
