Tribune Features Malad Couple 

In commemoration of the completion of fifty years of married life, Mr. and Mrs. Jedd Jones, Sr., were the recipients of one of the most delightful and thoroughly enjoyable surprise parties ever held in Malad. 

The couple were married in Malad, March 20, 1883, by Richard M. Evans, probate judge. Both Mr. and Mrs. Jones were born at Brigham, Utah, and both came to Malad in sixty-five and have resided here since that time. They endured the hardships and struggles incident to pioneer life. Their early married life was spent on a farm. 

When the First National Bank of Malad was organized in 1907, Jedd Jones became president of that institution and has held that position continuously since. He is also interested in other business enterprises of the town. 

Mr. and Mrs. Jones are the parents of five children, three living. They are Jedd Jones, Jr., Lawrence Jones and Mrs. Lyle Tapper. 

Sponsors of the anniversary celebration, which was attended by 80 guests, were Mrs. Jedd Jones Jr., Lawrence Jones and Mrs. Lyle Tapper. The large banquet table was centered by a wedding cake on which was a miniature bride and groom. A blue and gold color scheme was carried out in decorations and appointments. 

The guests assembled at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jedd Jones, Sr. and from there went to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jedd Jones Jr., where dinner was served. 

The table was lighted by golden tapers in the silver and gold sticks, and vases of gold rose buds were used on the table and throughout the dining room to carry out the color plan. Blue and gold stain candy sticks were used as favors. 

Hugh W. Jones presided over the banquet as toastmaster with others giving short talks in keeping with the occasion.  

Appropriate responses were made by Mr. and Mrs. Jones, expressing their appreciation for the occasion and the gifts. 

Other numbers on the program by friends and family included piano solos and duets, readings, and vocal solos and duets. Following the dinner, which was perfection itself, dancing was indulged in to music furnished by an orchestra consisting of Evan and Warren Jones, and Lloyd Davis. Readings, talks and songs between dances awakened tender memories and brought back recollections of bygone days. 

A feature of the evening’s program was the presentation of a gold pen to Mr. Jones and a gold necklace to Mrs. Jones. The gifts were presented by Lawrence Jones. Gilbert Tapper and Larry Jones presented their grandmother with a corsage of yellow rose and lavender sweet peas. 

Out of town guests who attended the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. David M. Daniels, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jones and Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Jones, all of Pocatello; Mrs. and Mrs. Bert Eliason of Stone, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Daniels of Lava Hot Springs. 

It was one of the gayest and liveliest parties that has been held for some time, the elder people vying with the younger in making it a most happy event. 

Many letters and telegrams expressing congratulations were received by Mr. and Mrs. Jones.
