Michael LaMont “Mont” Boyce, (1951)

Michael LaMont “Mont” Boyce, 75, formerly of Marsh Valley, Idaho, passed away on Tuesday,

September 8, 2026, in Grand Junction, Colorado, following a lengthy battle with dementia.

Mont was born on May 21, 1951, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Dorothy Lewis Boyce and Myron W.

Boyce. He grew up in the Marsh Valley area and graduated from Marsh Valley High School in

  1. During his high school years, Mont played football, was a varsity wrestler, and served as

student body vice president.

On May 21, 1971, Mont married Lana Ray in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus

Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, they built a life centered around family and faith.

Mont attended the police academy at Idaho State University, where he graduated at the top of

his class. He went on to serve as a police officer in Pocatello, Idaho. In 1984, Mont and his

family moved to Kennewick, Washington, where he worked as an AMS Lieutenant at the

Hanford Nuclear Facility.

Throughout his life, Mont was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day

Saints. Above all, he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a wonderful

friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mont is survived by his wife, Lana Ray Boyce; four of his five children, Jill (Jake) Atwood of

Grand Junction, Colorado; Adam Boyce of Kennewick, Washington; Gina (Jon) Cook of Grand

Junction, Colorado; and Brittney (Jamie) Haggon of Edinburgh, Scotland; 10 grandchildren; and

six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Jacque) Boyce of Chubbuck,

Idaho, and his sister, Debbie Swallow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Myron Boyce; his sister; and his oldest

son, Justin.

Mont’s life was marked by service to his family, his faith, his community, and those around him.

His family will remember his love and the many years they were blessed to share with him.

A graveside service honoring Mont’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:00

p.m. at Norton Cemetery, 1700 State Street, McCammon, Idaho 83250
