Merrill D. Price March 2nd, 1938 – October 13th, 2014

“Together Again”

Merrill D. Price age 76 passed away suddenly from complications of a stroke on Monday, October 13, 2014 surrounded by his family. Mom and Dad are now holding each other and dancing again, watching over us all. Merrill was born in Samaria, Idaho on March 2nd, 1938 the youngest of 13 children to Evan M. and Deloria Peterson Price. Merrill received his early education in Samaria. He then went onto graduate from Malad High School where he was a member of the Malad High Boxing team. After graduating from high school Merrill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, from March of 1960 to February of 1966 with an honorable discharge. Merrill met the love of his life Twylla Marshall in January of 1968. They were married in Samaria, Idaho on November 22, 1969. Merrill and Twylla lived in Ogden where they raised their children. Merrill was a hard worker and always took pride in taking care of his family, working for Thiokol Corporation and Hill Air Force Base where he retired in 1996 as an F-16 radar mechanic. After retiring Merrill and Twylla moved back to Samaria where he kept busy by helping raise their granddaughter Shaelynn, helping his nephew Dale with farm work and taking care of the Samaria Cemetery. Merrill had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping at LaPlatta. Merrill was an avid snowmobiler and passed his love of snowmobiling onto his boys. He also looked forward to his yearly snowmobiling trip to the cabin with his good friends Gary Cook and Lee Folkman. Merrill loved getting out and bowling on Friday nights, weekends at the horse races and watching westerns in between Jazz games. He also loved having family over for reunions, Easter picnics and Memorial weekend. Later in life Merrill was honored to serve with The American Legion whether it was marching in the parades or honoring those that had passed away. Merrill is survived by one daughter Teressa (Jerrod) Hirst; two sons Evan (Jennifer) and Ryan; 5 grandchildren Spencer, Cole, Shaelynn, T. Jay, Amber and 6 great grandchildren. Merrill was preceded in death by his loving wife Twylla, his parents, twelve siblings, and his daughter Shana and son in law Jeff Larsson, Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 12 noon at the Malad LDS 2nd ward chapel, 20 S. 100. A viewing will be held Friday, October 17th, 2014 from 6 – 8 pm. and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 am. at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. Malad, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Samaria City Cemetery with military honors. C
