Melvin Reed Spencer, 2 December 1926

Melvin Reed Spencer joined his eternal companion when he passed away at age 75 at his home in Malad, ID on July 18, 2002.

He was born December 2, 1926, the son of William Walter and Amelia Lorena Whitehead Spencer. He was raised in Malad, ID where he attended school and made his home.

He served in World War Ii in the navy from 1945-46 as Seaman Second Class and was drafted into the Army during the Korean conflict from 1951-53. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His heart was in his home and farm and he leaves behind a great legacy of integrity and hard work.

He was married to Audrey Rachel Hawkins and had three children. They were later divorced. He married his eternal sweetheart, Wanda Marie Thomas on March 2, 19184 and was sealed for time and eternity March 2, 1985 in the Logan Temple.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; father, William Walter Spencer; mother, Amelia Lorena Whitehead Spencer; brothers, Raymond Whitehead Spencer and Karl Conrad Spencer; sister, Hazel Lorene Hakes; and great-granddaughter, Micaela Nicole Hernandez.

He is survived by his three children: Melvin (Myung-Ha) Spencer, North Carolina; Rachel Suzanne (Bruce) Barkley, Arizona; Robert (Shannon), Utah; step children: Rex Hall; Robert Hall; Sharon (Wendall) Balls; Annette (Doug) Peterson; Janet (David) Wood; GuyAnn (Vint) Larsen; Kristi (Robert) Smith; brothers Joseph Spencer, Loren Spencer and Ralph Spencer; sister, Emma Ward; 30 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Malad LDS Third Ward building. Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery.
