SOUTH WEBER – Max Robert Wilson, 78, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, of a massive heart attack.
He was born August 15, 1919, in Malad, Idaho, the son of Isaac J. and Amber Austad Wilson. He lived in Ogden the early part of his life and attended Ogden High School.
On January 14, 1939, Max married Selma Nicholas in Ogden. They moved to South Weber in 1952. Max and Selma were sealed together with all their family in the Ogden LDS Temple in January 1987. They had celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year.
He was a High Priest in the South Weber 3rd LDS Ward.
Max was a veteran of World War II having served with the 280th Engineer and Combat Battalion in the European Theater.
He worked at Carpenter Paper Co, Pillsbury Mills and had retired from Hill AFB as a computer repairman in 1975.
Max and Selma had enjoyed many years of traveling the country in their trailer and had spent the past winters in Quartzsite, Arizona, where they made many wonderful friends. He was a loving and giving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved them all and had a special nickname for each one of them. Max loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Many memories have been made over the years around the kitchen table on Sunday nights eating his popcorn. He had a wry sense of humor and was fun to be around. He always had a joke to tell. Max enjoyed wood-carving, furniture making and gardening and had built their home. He was a hard worker and always had a project going.
Surviving are his wife of South Weber; five daughters, Linda (Marlin) Balls, Mountain Green; Karen (Ray) Peek, South Weber; Rebecca (Roger) Parrish, South Weber; Susan (Bruce) Nilson, Uintah; Marilyn (Brad) Sims, Harrisville; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Max was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelley Margaret and a son, Mark Max; his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Mon-day, May 4th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Farrell Poll officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
