MARY PRICE

CHILD DIES AS RESULT OF A KICK BY HORSE

Mary Price Plays Behind Animal in Barn; Funeral Held Tuesday.

Mary, aged three years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Price, was kicked by a horse Friday morning, dying from the effects Saturday night, without regaining consciousness.

The little girl followed her daddy to the barn where he was feeding the horses Friday morning. The father, seeing the child, took her back to the house and told her to play there. He had no more than returned to the barn when the child started into the barn door, behind the horse which kicked, receiving two very bad bruises, one on the forehead and one at the back of the head. She was brought to Malad and given medical attention at the office of Dr. Garst, but no hope was held out for her recovery, although an operation was performed and two bones removed from the skull.

She died Saturday evening and was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Jones at St. John until Tuesday when funeral services were held at the Stake Tabernacle in Malad.

Services were conducted by Bishop Arch Harris of the St. John ward. The house was filled with sympathizing relatives and friends who had gathered to show their respect to the Price and Jones families.

The speakers were Pres. L. D. Jones, Thos. Richards, E. E. Richards. Mrs. Lewis read a poem written by Mr. Illum which was very sympathetic and comforting. A vocal solo, “Your Little Rosebud Has Left You,” was rendered by Mrs. Stell* Crowther, and “Dry Those Tears,” by Margaret Jones. The service gle** club rendered the first song. The opening prayer was offered by R. J. Harding and benediction by Wm. Leigh. Burial was in the Malad City cemetery.

Relatives and friends of the families acted as flower girls and pall bearers. The floral offerings were beautiful and by their number showed the respect the parents of the little girl are held in this community and also in St. John.

Every one in this valley sends their sympathy to the family in their sad hour in the loss of their little daughter.
