Mary Morris Rose, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 6, 1995, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary was the seventh child of 12 children born to Sarah E. an Parley M. Morris. She was born on September 8, 1923, in Reddyville, Idaho. At the age of 12 she moved with her family to Salt Lake City.

Mary graduated from West High School in 1941. She married Gene Rose October 18, 1943. She was a member of the LDS Church. Mary gave of herself tirelessly throughout her life, both to her family and friends, and to the community. She was proud to have served as Den Mother, Room Mother and as a Pink Lady of Holy Cross Hospital for many years alongside of her mother and daughter.

She was a great seamstress, and made many clothes for herself and others. She was the founding member of the West High Alumni Association and in 1986 was named Alumna of the Year. She worked many hours with the West High Alumni Association, and was proud of the part she played in awarding scholarships to deserving students.

Mary delighted in and is survived by her family: Gene Rose, her loving husband and best friend of 52 years; Jim Rose, and Judi Abald (and husband, Bjorn), and her grandchildren, Eric and Rebecca Abald, who brought much pleasure into her life. She also is survived by her brothers and sisters, Ester (Mrs. Don) Smart, Mildred (Mrs. John) DeLate, Lenore Morris, Paul Morris (Helen), Grant Morris, Jeanne (Mrs. David) Home, Herbert Morris (Arlene), Cherryl Lund and Mavis (Mrs. William) Oswald, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
