Mary LaVeda Williams Mills

Mary Mills, the only daughter of William Jenkins Williams and LaVeda Eliza Williams, born September 17, 1925, passed away, February 7, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Pleasant View, Utah of cancer. Mary was raised in Malad along with six brothers. She married Vahl Ross Mills Sr. in Salt Lake City, Utah July 10, 1946 and was later solemnized in the Los Angeles temple. Together they had five children, Mary Lynn Dehner, Vahl Ross Mills Jr. (Aide), Shawna Symes (Dave), Valorie Mills (Ron), Cheryl Sullivan (Frank). Mary and Vahl enjoyed camping and fishing with life long friends and relatives. They enjoyed their time traveling to Alaska to visit family living there. Mary had a nursing career while living in California and worked at Simplot while living in Pocatello. Once Vahl retired they moved back to Malad. Marys favorite memory was the mission she and Vahl served for the LDS church in 2002 at Cove Fort Utah. Their mission was cut short with the diagnosis of breast cancer. Having survived breast cancer, she was diagnosed with lung cancer in October of 2014. Mary is survived by her five children, 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Her brothers Ralph Williams and Verl Williams, sister-in-law Sharlene Williams and her life long friend Betty (Sam) Keys. Preceded in death by her husband Vahl (2005), her parents and infant brother and brothers and sister-in-laws Dale (Wilda), Thomas L (Wanda), John L (Anita) Melvin Williams and by other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Horizon Home Health Care and Hospice for the year of helping our mother. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12 at 12 noon in the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. in Malad. Friends may visit with the family on Friday morning from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the service.
