MRS. MARY EVANS HAWS, FORMER ONEIDA RESIDENT DIES IN UTAH AT AGE 92
Mrs. Mary Evans Haws, 92, Ogden, died Saturday morning at the Weber Memorial Hospital in Roy and funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Chapel of Flowers Mortuary with Bishop Boyd Coombs of the Terrace Fourth Ward officiating.
Burial was in the Clearfield Memorial Park.
Mrs. Haws was born Feb. 6, 1872 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of William Henry and Phoebe Thornton Evans. On Jan. 1, 1896 she was married to Lorin Dean Haws in the Salt Lake Temple.
After their marriage they moved to Tremonton and in 1915 moved to Oneida County. In 1930 they moved to Ogden, later lived in Clearfield six years before returning to Ogden. Mr. Haws died 14 years ago.
In addition to her family of six, she reared eight other children.
She had been a seamstress. She was a member of the LDS Church and was active in Primary, MIA and Relief Society presidency in Bear River Stake and Curlew Stake.
Surviving are four sons and a daughter, Clarence E. Haws, Idaho Falls; William Emerson Haws, Ucon, Idaho; Veo Wilson Haws, Ogden; Grant Glazier Haws, Mrs. W.L. (LaDean) Baker, both of Malad; 21 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Maude Riddle, Torrance, Calif.
