Mary Allene Kent Knighton, 75, passed away Wednesday evening, September 27, 1995, in Ogden, Utah, following a courageous fight with cancer.
She was born May 21, 1920, at Malad City, Idaho, to Montana J. and Mary L. Jenkins Kent. She grew up in Ruth, Nevada, where she attended White Pines Schools. She married Sam C. Knighton on May 26 1938 in Eureka, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in many positions in the primary and Relief Society organizations during her lifetime. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Sego Lily Camp.
Allene was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and was a accomplished homemaker. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor, and a positive approach to life. She and Sam were active members of the Holiday Rambler’s RV Club, and spent many happy years traveling, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Kent and Barbra Knighton of Boise, Idaho; and Robert and Carol Knighton of Ogden, Utah; five granddaughters, Kori, Dana, Christy, Lindy and Justyne; one brother, Daniel J. Kent of Lakewood, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 2 1995, at 11a.m. In the Pocatello LDS Alameda Fist Ward corner of Jefferson Avenue and Walnut Street, with Bishop John Fritzen conducting.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, Oct. 1, from 7 p.m. To 9 p.m. At the Henderson Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave. and from 10 a.m. To 10:45 a.m. At the church on Monday prior to services. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
