My Life Story by Marlyn Barnes Daniels

My life began when I was born on November 19, 1932, to Mattie (Williams) and John Treasure. I had one sister, Ella Faye, and five younger brothers, Mont, Sheldon (Tad), Robert (Bob), Barry and Ron.

We lived on a ranch west of Downey. My dad was a hardworking cowboy. My mother worked hard too and was an excellent cook. She always had a big garden and pretty flowers. Growing up, we all had a lot of work to do.

I went to grade school and high school in Downey. My school days were such fun times. I had a good friend all through school, her name was Sharon Bloxham (Thorpe). We had so many great times together. In high school, I was a cheerleader, harvest queen and rodeo queen.

During high school, I had been dating DeVere Barnes. He got his call to go into the service, so we got married on March 21, 1951, and sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on July 31, 1951. Our first child Brad was born on March 22, 1952, while Dee was in Korea.

Dee always wanted to farm, so we bought a farm in Grant Ward. At that time, we had Marilee, Boyce, and Shelley. After a few years, we had Deann & Allyson. Dee worked very hard. We had bought a home in town next to Roy and Myrna Larson. That was a wonderful neighborhood, and we had many dear friends.

In 1967, Dee was killed in a farming accident. That was such a sad and hard time. Dee was a great father and husband. We missed him so much! I had a wonderful family that kept me going.

In 1976, I married Junior Naef. Junior had three boys – Larry, Kim, and Mike. We had a good life and did some fun traveling. Junior was a great step-father to my children.

I have always had church callings including that of Relief Society President. I belonged to the Madrigal Choir, Downey Study Club, DUP, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Ladies.

In 2013, I married Rex Daniels from Malad. He was one of the first boys that I ever dated in high school, and we had remained friends for many years. We were blessed to have three wonderful years together.

Our dear mom passed away on November 21, 2024, in Pocatello, Idaho. Her children Brad (Sherry), Marilee (Jeff), Boyce (Jolene), Shelley (Deon), Deann (Brad) and Allyson (Tad) and her twenty-one grandchildren and six great grandchildren love her beyond words. We will miss her greatly! We know that she is finally reunited with our dad after fifty-seven years – what a blessed & happy reunion! Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26th at 12 noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Downey, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
