Marie Coila Galloway passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at home in Downey, Idaho. She was born on August 19, 1933, in Downey. Her parents were Harry Lee and Blanche Stephens.

As a teenager, Marie worked at the Downey Drug Store, Jack’s Cafe and Hi-Way Cafe until she graduated from high school. She married Harvey Galloway on June 23, 1951. They had 4 children: Stephen, Margaret, Scott, and Melanie.

Marie was selected by the Downey Study Club to become the first librarian in town. She also conducted genealogy research for 50 years and was a Family History Consultant for 8 years for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Marie was an exceptional artist and known for her landscapes and portraits. She also loved to crochet and sew, as many can attest to receiving one of her little dresses, shoes, hats, or elephants. She was a great cook and loved to make cookies, cakes, and fudge to share with everyone. She made large holiday meals along with numerous desserts.

Marie loved having her grandchildren come to her house and stay. Easter and Christmas Eve were special times with family gathered in her home. She also enjoyed going on yearly camping trips with her family to Stanley, ID. She appreciated the outdoors and long scenic drives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister: Lila Larkin, and grandson: Michael Shawn Galloway. She is survived by her brother: Harry (Sharon) Stephens, sons: Steve and Scott, daughters: Maggie and Melanie (John), 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 27th at 12 noon with a viewing at the Downey church from 11-12.
