Lucile Williams Olsen

OLSEN, LUCILE WILLIAMS, February 1, 1914 – January 8, 2006

RUPERT IDAHO – Lucile Williams Olsen, 91, passed away January 8, 2006 at the Countryside Care & Rehabilitation Center in Rupert, Idaho.

She was born February 1, 1914 in Malad, Idaho, the third child of Arthur T. and Nora Williams. Eventually she would have eight sisters and one brother. Lucile grew up and attended school in Malad. She liked working outside and during her growing up years helped her father herd sheep and cattle on horseback.

She married William O. “Bill” Olsen of Jerome, Idaho on June 8, 1934 in Pocatello, Idaho. They made their home southwest of Jerome on the farm where they raised pigs and then cattle. Lucile liked to help with the cattle, and Bill relied on her judgment at calving time.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She went to the Boise Temple in May, 1995.

In her later years she and her eight sisters took a trip together each spring. They all loved to be together and looked forward to traveling together each time. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her home was always open for drop-ins and a meal was always ready. After the death of her husband, Lucile moved to Rupert to live with her daughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, of 63 years; one son; one grandson; three sisters, one brother and her parents.

She is survived by her children: Delbert (Leon) Olsen, Snowville, Utah; Richard (Linda), Shoshone, Idaho; and Lois (Doug) Reincke, Rupert; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and five sisters: June W. Jones, Dillon, Montana, Nora Price, Hannah Lou Williams, Darlene Nielsen and Barbara Bingham, all of Malad.

Funeral services were held January 14 at the West Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rupert. Burial was in the Jerome cemetery.
