DOWNEY – Lucile Green Wilson, 88, died August 22, 1996 in Pocatello. She was born October 2, 1907 in Samaria, ID, the daughter of Joseph Albert and Edna Evans Green. She attended school in Woodruff, Riddyville and McCammon, graduating from McCammon High School in 1926.

She married William LeRoy Wilson on June 17, 1929, the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He died in 1973. Following her marriage, Lucile and her family lived in Honeyville, UT, Dell, MT and Downey. She was active in the LDS Church all her life and served in the Relief Society, Primary, Young Women’s Program and Sunday School. She loved music and was a long time member of the Downey Madrigal Choir.

Lucile was the mother of three children: Gloria (Merlin) Phillips, Arco; Bert (Hannele) Wilson, Provo, UT; and Margo (Pat) Murphey, Little Rock, Ark. She was also the step mother and loving friend of Son (Irene) Wilson, Nampa; Althea (Lee) Orme, Clearfield, UT; Marjorie (Rees) Baty, Tremonton, UT; and June (Ray) Walker, Cove, UT. She had 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, with three more on the way.

She is survived also by a sister, Dorothy (Glade) Rowe, McCammon; and by two brothers, Albert (Verna) Green, Chubbuck; and John (Roween) Green, Dolan Springs, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, two brothers, a granddaughter and a step son in law.

Lucile was descended from good pioneer stock, experienced both adversity and joy, and remained true always to her heritage and to her values. We will miss her.

Funeral services will be August 27 in the Downey 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop LaVern Brim officiating. Burial will be in the Fielding, UT Cemetery.
