Luceal Deschamps

MALAD – Luceal Deschamps, 89, of Malad, passed away Thursday, April 16, 1998 in the Oneida County Hospital of heart failure.

She was born March 15, 1909 in Hyrum, Utah, a daughter of Edgar and Esther Hall. She received her education at Pocatello Valley and Malad.

She married Parley Deschamps on April 3, 1926 at Brigham City, Utah. One year after they were married Parley and Luceal moved to St. John, where they were active in cattle ranching.

Parley and Luceal had two sons, Monte Deschamps and Dr. Jay Dee Deschamps.

She was a member of the LDS Church a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary, serving one year as president. Luceal had a natural ability for music, and enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She always had a reputation of being an immaculate housekeeper. Luceal was voted “Best Dressed Woman” in Malad City, Idaho.

She is survived by her son, Monte Deschamps, of West Kelso, Washington; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Perce Hall of Mountain Home, Idaho; and one sister, Mildred Tovey, Ogden, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Parley, son Jay Dee Deschamps, and brother, Max Hall.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 21, 1998 in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, at 11 a.m. Concluding services will be a the Malad Cemetery.

E. Luceal Deschamps, 89, of Malad City, Idaho, passed away Thursday, April 16, 1998 in the Oneida County Hospital of natural causes.

She was born March 15, 1909 in Hyrum, Utah, a daughter of Edgar David and Esther Vilete Olson Hall. She received her education at Pocatello Valley and was a graduate of Malad High School.

She married Parley Deschamps on April 3, 1926 at Brigham City, Utah. One year after they were married, Parley and Luceal moved to St. John where they built their family home, and were active in cattle ranching. Parley and Luceal had two sons, Monte Deschamps and Dr. Jay Dee Deschamps.

She was a member of th L.D.S. Church, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, serving one year as President.

Luceal had a natural ability for music and enjoyed playing the organ and piano.

She was an avid gardener who possessed a “green thumb” which was evident in her beautifully kept yard, flower beds and floral arrangements. She always had a reputation of being an immaculate housekeeper. Luceal was voted “Best Dressed Woman” in Malad City, Idaho.

She is survived by her son, Monte Deschamps of West Kelso, Washingnton; five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Perce E. Hall of Mt Home, Idaho, and one sister, Mildred “Mid” LaVern Hall Owens Tovey, Ogden, Utah. She was preceded in death by her busband, Parley; a son, Dr. Jay Dee Deschamps, and brother, Max D. Hall.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, April 21, 1998 at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad at 11: a.m. with concluding service in the Malad City Cemetery.
