Lon W Atkinson
1958 – September 12, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lon W Atkinson, age 67, on September 12, 2025. A man whose laughter was loud and infectious, Lonny was a beloved father, brother, and friend.
Lonny was born in Ogden Ut in 1958, as child number 3 of 6 children. For his young adult life, he lived in the Davis County area and was proud to point out multiple buildings that he helped build during his career as a welder. Later in life he retired to Idaho and spent many long hours with family and friends.
Lonny cherished the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting with his children. He took them on numerous camping trips and shared his passion for horseback riding, as well as his love for riding his Harley. When he was younger, you wouldn’t find him outside without his boots, cowboy hat, and leathers. Often referring to himself as the “cool hippie cowboy biker typa dude”. He was a great guitarist and would spend many hours playing for his friends and family.
Lonny leaves behind his six children, Jason, Jenny, Trevor, Dalon, Angela, and L. Gage; many grandchildren, siblings and friends who will carry his memory with them, especially on crisp mornings in the woods, by the campfire, or with a drink in hand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Bingham and L. Wayne Atkinson
A viewing service to say goodbye to Lonny will be held at the Horsley Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. with graveside services Saturday September 20, 2025, at the Malad City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Please arrive at 2:45 p.m. so services can start promptly.
Rest in peace, Lonny. Your stories, your laughter, and your friendship will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing you.
