Lily Silvester Hess

HESS, LILY SYLVESTER, March 6, 1913 – March 21, 2008

Lily Silvester Hess, 95, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008 in Tremonton, Utah. She was born March 6, 1913 in Plymouth, Utah to Frederick and Alvira Bigler Silvester.

She attended Plymouth grade school and Bear River High School.

She married Loyal M. Hess on October 25, 1929 in Brigham City, Utah and later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple January 20, 1948. Loyal died March 30, 1979. She lived most of her life in Malad, spending the six months in “Our House” Assisted Living in Tremonton.

She was an active member of the LDS Church. She served on the Primary Stake Board, in the Presidency of the Mutual Improvement Assn. and the Relief Society, was coordinator of the Jr. Sunday School and also officiated in the Logan LDS Temple.

She worked at Daniels Drug, later Allen Drug for 38 years. She was a beautiful seamstress, a good house keeper and gardener. She was on a bowling team for several years and taught 4-H for 12 years. She loved to travel with her husband, family and friends. She enjoyed going with her good friend Maria to the Temple, shopping, to the Drive-In and just riding around.

She is survived by her children: Darrel Hess, Richmond, Virginia, Iris Lee (Harvey) Wood, Fielding, Utah, and Ferris (Sharon) Hess, Malad, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Leah Foster, and two brothers, Daniel and Wendel Silvester.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter-in-law Arlene Hess, a grandson, Douglas Wood, a great-granddaughter, Tiffany Baker, and a great-great-grandson, Nixon Major; also five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held March 28, 2008 in the Horsley Funeral Home.
