Lila Wade Evans, 93, a former school teacher in the Malad Valley and Lava Hot Springs area schools, passed away Saturday morning, March 19, 1994, in the Heritage Park Care Center, Roy, Utah, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Evans was born August 5, 1900, in Stone, a daughter of Clarence B Wade and Marion Minerva Driscoll Wade. She attended American Falls elementary schools through the eighth grade, then moved to Pocatello, living with her grandmother, until graduating from high school. She was a graduate of Idaho State College with an elementary education degree.

She was married in 1944 to David V. Evans and later divorced.

She taught in one-room schools in Arbon, Malad Valley area, and later taught in McCammon and Lava Hot Springs in the second and third grades for many years until her retirement in the early 1960s.

She had made her home in Arbon and Lava Hot Springs until 1968. Her health became impaired and she made her home with a brother and sister-in-law in Malad, then with a niece and nephew in Kaysville, Utah until it was necessary for her to be in a nursing home in Idaho Falls. She lived in a nursing home in Menden, Utah and after several years moved to the care center in Roy, Utah where she resided until her death.

Musically talented, she loved to sing. Her school students were recipients of her talents in music and enjoyed drawing.

She will be remembered as having never said a bad word about others, and kept many friendships through the years.

Surviving are a daughter, Marian D. Evans, of Ogden, Utah; numerous nephews and nieces; and the friends at Heritage Park Care Center in Roy, Utah.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 22, 1994, at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello. A nephew, Bishop Jesse L. Dredge of the Kaysville, Utah LDS Second Ward will officiate at the services. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. before the funeral services. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello.
