Malad – Lester Waldron Atkinson, 82, our beloved father, brother and friend, passed away Friday,
June 25, in the Oneida County Hospital.

He was born May 23, 1911, in Samaria, a son of Alfred Henry and Hannah Elizabeth Waldron Atkinson. He married Anna Isabell Stowe August 27, 1031, in Malad, and the mariage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple Feb. 10, 1950.

Mr. Atkinson was a lifelong resident of Samaria, where he farmed and ranched until his retirement in 1976. He was an active member of the LDS Church, where he held the office of high priest.

He is servived by one son, one daughter and their spouses, Farrell Delon and Diane Morris Atkinson of Malad, and Mrs. Leon (Iva Lou Atkinson) Jensen of Downey; 13 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; and one geat-great-grandchild; one brother William S. Atkinson of Malad; and three sisters, Davinah (Viney) Evans, Malad, Pearl Bradshaw of Firth, and Hannah Davis, St. John. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, five brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Funeral services will held Monday, June 28, at 1 p.m. In the Malad LDS Second Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W 300 N., Malad, tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Monday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. To 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
