Leon Dyal Sorensen, (1937)

SORENSEN, LEON DYAL, August 7, 1937 – June 12, 2008

EAST GARLAND, UTAH – Leon Dyal Sorensen, 70, passed away June 12, 2008. He was born August 7, 1937 to Wilford Vinson and Neomia Dyal Sorensen in East Garland. He spent his entire life in East Garland. He was a 1956 graduate of Bear River High School and a lifetime graduate of the school of hard knocks. He married Annette Daniels January 29, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He owned and operated the Sorensen Family Farm in East Garland. He also worked in the maintenance division of UDOT for over 20 years. Leon was a member of the Utah Farm Bureau, Jersey Cattle Club, American Quarter Horse Assn. being recognized as a quarter horse breeder for 25 consecutive years, Box Elder Sheriffs Posse and Bear River Valley Cutter Assn.

He was a high priest in the East Garland Ward and has served in the past in the Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday School presidency and home teacher. His favorite calling was Jr. Sunday School greeter.

He is survived by his wife, children: Lisa (Jeff) Richins, Will (Richelle), Lee (Lanette), Jason (Misty), Aaron (Lana), Patty (Lynn) Green, Joshua and Darci; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Leah (George) Kirkland, Cleo (Warren) Mann and Ilene (Ron) Kamishke.

He is preceded in death by two granddaughters: Amberly and Analise; brothers: Dyal, Jay, Kay, Vinson; sisters: Geneva and Orlene.

Funeral services will be held June 16, 2008 at the Fielding Stake Center. Interment at East Garland Cemetery.
