MALAD – Leah Mary Chandler
Waldron, 82, of Malad, died Sunday in the Oneida County Hospital. She was born March 20, 1909, in Rigby, the oldest of 12 children born to William James and Mary Nancy Call Chandler. She was raised and educated in several areas of Idaho, as her father taught school. She graduated from Malad High School.
She married Nathaniel “Nat” Acie Waldron April 20„1927 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple! After their marriage, they lived in Gwenford, near Samaria, where they farmed until 1964. Then they moved to Malad.
Mr. Waldron died Jan. 2, 1990.
She had been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served many years in music and as a teacher. She enjoyed homemaking, music and her family.
She is survived by three sons. Acie C, Columbus, Ohio, James C, Las Vegas, Nev., and D. LaMont, Weston; five daughters, Mrs. Piatt (Phyllis) Price, Samaria, Mrs. Mada Lurae Stanger, Roy, Utah, Mrs. Marvin (Leah Mae) Erickson, Pocatello, Mrs. Denton (Helen) Greene, Weston, Mrs. Dale (Gwen) Evans, Pocatello; 48 grandchildren; and 58 great-grandchildren; three brothers. Samuel C. Chandler, Daly City, Calif., James J. Chandler. Chatsworth, Calif., and Homer C. Chandler, Provo, Utah- and four sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Helen) Harrison, Farr West, Utah, Mrs. Verna Harris Citrus Heights, Calif., Mrs. Leland (Dove) Fife. Nampa; and Mrs. Dean (Mildred) Austin. Arcata, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon in the Malad LDS Fourth Ward Chapel, 400 N. 200 W., Bishop Brent Evanson officiating. Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Samaria Cemetery. Arrangements are by Benson-Horsley Funeral Home of Malad.
