LaVena Lusk Christensen (Birth – 16 May 1914)

WASHINGTON TERRACE – LaVena Lusk Christensen, 74, died Friday February 24, 1989 at a local nursing home of cancer.

She was born May 16, 1914, in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Thomas Jenkins and Maria (Marie) Williams Lusk.

She married George R. Christensen on June 29, 1933 in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

She was reared and educated in Malad, Idaho, and had lived in Soda Springs, Idaho, and had lived in Washington Terrace for the past 47 years.

She was a member of the Washington Terrace 3rd LDS Ward. She held many church positions and had taught Relief Society and Sunday School and Primary. She received her 25 years of service pin for Primary.

Surviving are her husband of Washington Terrace, two sons and two daughters; Donald Jay Christensen, North Ogden; CalWayne Christensen, Layton; Linda Sue Jakola, and Mrs. Steven W. (Bonnie) McBride, both of Washington Terrace, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Also surviving are one brother and three sisters; Thomas H. Lusk, Mt. Pleasant; Mary Husby, LasVegas, Nevada; Rhea Jensen, Malad, Idaho; and Margaret Larson, Clearfield.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, and one sister, Donna Vhe Buttars.

Services were held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Lindquist & Sons Colonial Chapel in Ogden, with Bishop Donald J. Todd of the Washington Terrace 3rd Ward officiating.

Burial was in the Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
