LaNae P. Dance, 93,of Rockford, Idaho passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 13, 2016 at her home.
It was a cold January day when LaNae was the first child born to Albert R. Price and Sara Jones in Malad, Idaho.
LaNae grew up in Malad where she attended grade school. She had many happy memories of the years in Malad with her sister Lucille and her brother Farrel. They formed close bonds that lasted throughout her lifetime. She attended various high schools, graduating from Salmon High School. LaNae loved school and appreciated the value of an education. She was an excellent student. She took many college courses qualifying to become a bookkeeper.
She waited faithfully for Theo as he participated in the major battles of the South Pacific during World War II. They were married on July 29, 1945. Theo passed away just 4 years before they reached their fortieth wedding anniversary. She remained dedicated to him to the end and now they are happily together forever. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1959. LaNae and Theo were blessed with four children, Gary Theo, Denton Jay, Jeffrey Philip, and Sara Lynn.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The family joined with her siblings and enjoyed many happy vacations at the cabin of Lucille and Charlie Morris in Island Park. After Theo passed she continued to enjoy traveling with her siblings and their spouses who were always so good to include her. She was a wonderful seamstress making clothes for her daughter, daughter-in-law and her granddaughter. She was an avid reader, she loved doing genealogy for her family and her husbands family; she loved to collect wild flowers at the cabin and had an amazing talent for drying them and making pictures to give as gifts. In her later years she made beautiful scrapbooks for each of her children.
LaNae was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved taking institute classes and improving her scriptural knowledge. She served as Relief Society President and in all the auxiliaries of the church. She was also a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
LaNae worked at the Utah Hill Air Force Base during WWII at the ordinance plant. She also worked for many years as a bookkeeper for L.E. Stevens and NonPariel where her bookkeeping skills were second to none.
In 1995 she moved to Henderson, Nevada to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren there.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Karlene) Dance of Pocatello, Idaho, Denton Jay Dance and Jeffrey Dance both of Rockford; daughter, Sara (Kelly) Gardner of Henderson, Nevada; sister, Lucille (Charles) Morris of Meridian,; sister-in-law, Mickie Price of Alpine, UT; thirteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theo; parents, Albert and Sara Price and brother, A. Farrel Price.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot.
The family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
