Koby Harris

HARRIS, KOBY, April 13, 1981 – September 26, 2008

Koby Harris walked to heaven tall and proud on September 26, 2008. He was born in Ogden, Utah on April 13, 1981 to Kevin Harris and Rosie Wilde. Koby loved and respected both of his parents very much. He was raised and educated in the Roy and Layton area. He attended Layton High School and later received his diploma from Two Rivers high School in 2006 where he graduated as the class valedictorian. Koby enjoyed learning about new things.

On March 27, 2000 Koby became the proud father of a very vivacious, bubbly, beautiful little girl named Daysia. She became the air he would breathe, and the purpose for his life. Koby was a good dad.

On January 25, 2006, Koby was involved in a car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. As with everything else Koby faced in his life, he sought out the positive and moved forward. This also led Koby to a new chapter in his life. Being bound to his wheel chair was not going to stop him from providing for Daysia. He decided to learn a new trade he both enjoyed and could do from his wheel chair. He then enrolled in the machinist program at QWATC. It was here where Koby became a role model proving to others that anything is possible. He enjoyed sharing his story with others who suffered from spinal cord injuries in hopes they would not give up.

All who knew Koby knows he lived life out loud. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, family and friends. Koby was a people person and an adventure. Being in a wheel chair did not stop Koby from enjoying camping, riding his hand cycle, riding ATVs, river rafting, riding the Rocket at Lagoon and just being outdoors. Koby was involved with Weber States Wheeling Wildcats and Tri Countys Independent Living Rec. program. Koby also enjoyed watching the Food Network and cooking with his daughter Daysia. He loved music and going to concerts with his dad.

Koby was a very loving and caring person. He would always be there to lend a hand to family, friends or someone he just met, no questions asked. To him, everyone was family. We will miss his love for life and his infectious smile and laugh.

Koby leaves behind one daughter, Daysia Harris. He is survived by his father Kevin Harris, Ogden, UT, mother Rosie Wilde, Plain City, UT.
