Funeral held for Mrs. Kate Harding
Funeral services were held at Malad LDS Second Ward Chapel Saturday for Mrs. Kathryn (Kate) Olson Harding, age 63, who died July 22nd at her home of natural causes.
Bishop Gordon Crowther officiated and was one of the speakers. Others were Patriarch Moyle Facer and Pearl Jones, who gave the obituary. Ben W. Harding offered the family prayer; Francis Facer, the invocation; Patriarch A. G. Willie, the benediction. Special music included a vocal solo, Gaylen Cox; vocal duet, Clyde and Paul Morrell. Prelude and postlude music was played by Myra Jean John.
Grant E. Lundgren offered the dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery. Flowers were arranged by members of the Malad Second Ward Relief Society and Home Culture Club. Casket bearers were Owen Miller, George Freidenberger, Gerald Ben Harding, Brent Howard, Brent Archibald and Ralph Haycock.
Benson Funeral Home directed the burial.
Mrs. Harding was born Oct. 2, 1906, at Mapleton, Franklin County, Idaho to Nelso Christian and Rhoda Naef Olson. She received her education in the Downey schools and was graduated from Downey High School. She was married to “Coach” Ralph W. Harding, August 30, 1928, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Coach Harding died Sept. ???.
Active in the LDS Church, Mrs. Harding had served in the Primary, YWMIA and Relief Society. She was a member of the Malad Valley Garden Club, Home Culture Club and American War Mothers, Oneida Chapter. For many years she had entered ribbon winning entries in the Oneida County Fair.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters: Ralph R., Blackfoot; G. Bob, Elk Grove, Calif.; Don L., Washington, D.C.; Tom, Malad; Mrs. George (Joyce) Freidenberger, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Gaylen (Nadine) Cox, Bountiful; Mrs. Owen (Alice) Miller, Toronto, Canada; 19 grandchildren; two brothers Box Olson and Al ????.
