Joyce Pope Stevens

MONTPELIER-Joyce Pope Stevens, 36, 730 Lincoln, Montpelier, died Thursday, May 16, 1985, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident 17 miles south of Montpelier on Highway 30.

She was born August 24, 1948, in Park City, Utah, to Max A. and Margaret Felton Pope.

She married Roy E. Stevens December 7, 1968, in Arimo. She lived in Arbon until she was nine years old and then moved to Arimo with her family.

She graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1966 and graduated from Hollywood Beauty College in Provo, Utah, in 1968.

She lived in the Fillmore, Utah, area for two years until she moved to Alexandria, Virginia, where she lived for one and a half years while her husband was stationed in the U.S. Army. They moved to Salt Lake City where she owned and operated a beauty shop. She has been a resident of Montpelier for the last eight years.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, camping with her family, needlework and cosmetology.

Surviving are her husband of Montpelier; one son and one daughter, Sean Earl and Andrea Lynn, both of Montpelier; her parents, Smithfield, Utah; grandparents, George L. and Lilian Felton, Hyrum, Utah; Grandmother, Ester W. Pope, Richmond; three brothers and three sisters, W. Dennis Pope, Rexburg; Howard Max and Lewis Wade Pope, Montpelier; Mrs. Ray (Janet) Clements, Orem; Mrs. Mark (Connie) Micklesen, Sandy; and Mrs. Stephen (Beckie) Phelps, Montpelier.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 21, 1985, in the Third-Fifth LDS Ward Chapel, Montpelier. Burial was in the Hyrum, Utah, cemetery.
