Joy Adair Kiddy Cornia

Joy Adair Kiddy Cornia died on February 15, 2014 in Woods Cross, Utah. She was born February 12, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Woodruff, Utah with her parents, Samuel Charles Kiddy and Sarah Ellen Mills Kiddy. She started helping in the hay fields at the age of twelve. She was always a hard worker and lived by the motto “If something is worth doing, it is worth doing it well.” She learned to play the clarinet, piano and accordion. She was an excellent seamstress and loved all kinds of handwork, especially quilting, crocheting and tatting, which she generously gave to her posterity and friends.

She married Leo Peter Cornia in the Salt Lake Temple on October 1, 1945. They lived in Woodruff until 1950 when they moved to a farm outside Cokeville, Wyoming. She worked beside Leo as they farmed. She milked, lambed, hayed and was the expert stacker of bales, all the while maintaining a comfortable home and raising her family.

She served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was Primary President for thirteen years and Stake Primary President for four years. She was also Relief Society President. In 1984, she and Leo entered the Nauvoo Mission where they served for eighteen months in the Visitors Center.

1994 brought a big change as they moved to Malad, Idaho. She joined the Oneida Quilters Quilting Club and she worked in the Family History Center. She had a large garden and she made many more dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a half-brother, Gilbert Bradshaw; a sister, Ruth Taylor; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband; five children – Richard (Lynette), Ohio Columbus Mission; Neil (Sherrie), Kennewick, WA; Patsy Jeppsen (Robert), Bountiful, UT; Mary Dunn (Ray), Woods Cross, UT; Lynn (Judy), Casper, WY; 23 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 in Malad, Idaho. The viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 10:45 am at Horsely Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am at the Malad 4th Ward Chapel at 20 South 100 West. Burial will be in Woodruff, Utah.
