Joseph Sheldon Kay, 46, of Dallas, Texas, and former Swan Lake resident, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1997, in Dallas following a long illness.
He was born Nov. 1, 1950 in Downey, a son of Joseph W. and Doris Morgan Kay. He grew up on the family farm in Swan Lake. Sheldon graduated from Marsh Valley High School in the class of 1969. He served an LDS mission to the Eastern states, then continued his education at Ricks College and later graduated from Utah State University with a degree in counseling.
In April of 1975, he married Elaine Fullmer, and they later divorced.
Sheldon worked as a drug abuse counselor in Iowa, California and Dallas. He enjoyed his counseling experience and traveling. He also had a great love for his family and a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his mother, Doris M. Kay of Downey, two sisters: Jeanine (Twayne) Buhler of Filer, and Marsha (Alex) Inglet of Preston; also seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Kay.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, at noon in the Swan Lake LDS Ward chapel. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Swan Lake Cemetery.
