Joseph Keith Neeser

January 1, 1937 – February 10, 2021

Joseph Keith Neeser, 84, passed away on February 10, 2021 surrounded by his family after a short battle with melanoma cancer.

Keith was born January 1, 1937, in McCammon, Idaho, to Joseph Jared Neeser and Jane Anne Rowe. He was the second of six children. He graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1956. He was in the first graduating class at the new Marsh Valley High School. He married Bonnie Lee Tillotson on October 12, 1957. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 23, 1976. Dad served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a Counselor in the Bishopric, Ward Clerk, Ward Missionary, Young Men’s Advisor, and a faithful home teacher.

Dad was always a hard worker and worked construction as a heavy equipment operator for several years traveling to surrounding states for work. Then in 1977 he wanted to be closer to home and went to work for Bannock County Highway Department where he became a Foreman for the McCammon shop. Dad met many people around the valley as he worked for the Highway Department and became friends with many. He retired from Bannock County after 24 years.

Dad was grateful for his family and enjoyed spending time with them riding horses, hunting, camping, and especially watching his children and grandchildren in sports, rodeo, and various activities. He really loved having fun and playing with his grandchildren. He especially loved basketball and often shared with us his favorite story of winning the State Class “B” Title in 1954. Dad raised and sold calves and steers, pigs, and lots of horses throughout his life. He enjoyed raising colts, breaking them and spending time riding in the mountains and helping Alan and Brenda with the cows on their ranch. Dad and the boys made several pack trips into Palisades Lake and other places; they even let Mom and Kami go one time! He created great memories doing these things with his family.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his children; Kurt (Shanna) Neeser, Kevin (Connie) Neeser, Brenda (Alan) Kay, Jay (Ellen) Neeser, Kami (Kent) Larsen, 15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a grandson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Travis Neilson, Sadie, and his hospice nurse, Sage, for all their help and taking such great care of our Husband, Dad, and Grandpa. We strongly encourage everyone to please wear masks to the viewing and funeral.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 12 noon in the McCammon LDS Stake Center. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery.
