Joseph Arnal Gill

GILL, JOSEPH ARNAL, September 10, 1892 – October 2, 1959

Funeral services for Joseph Arnal Gill, age 67, who died Friday of leukemia at the Oneida hospital were held Monday afternoon in the Malad Second Ward Chapel with Counselor Gordon Crowther officiating. At the home, Ben Call offered the family prayer. At the chapel, prayers were offered by Pres. S.A. Hendricks and Pres. Moyle Facer. Speakers were Mr. Crowther, who read the obituary. A. Golden Willie and Bishop Myron P. Sorenson. Vocal numbers were solo, Louis Yearsley; duet, Leora Brown and Iris Barker; solo, Stillman Harris with choral reading by Dana Benson. Accompanists were Mrs. Mrya Jen John and Mrs. Marteal Hendricks, who also played the prelude and postlude.

J. Guy Benson dedicated the grave. Flowers were carried by member of the Second Ward Relief Society. Casket bearers were Norman Meyers, Nathan Wharton, Rex Barber, Billy Stinger, Arthur Loury and Kenneth Wharton.

Mr. Gill was born September 10, 1892 in Weston, a son of Thomas Brown and Melna Baumann Gill. He married Pearl Wharton, October 18, 1934 in Brigham City. They received endowments in the Logan Temple, April 15, 1957.

He was educated in Robbin, Idaho, and lived in Arimo before moving to Malad in 1936. He was a farmer. He was a member of the LDS Church and had been a ward teacher.

Surviving are his widow; two adopted sons, Thomas Leon Cunningham, Pocatello, and Dewayne Gill, Malad; four grandchildren, one great grandchild, five sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Melna) Woodland, Arimo; Mrs. Walter (Anna) Stinger, Boise; Mrs. Evelyn Steele, Goshen, UT; Mrs. John (Ila Louise) Howell, Pocatello; Mrs. Adelia Whisnant, Ashland, Oregon.
