John Moroni Ward

John Moroni Ward, 86, of Malad, passed away Friday, August 7, 1998, in the Oneida County Hospital of apparent heart failure.
He was born March 12, 1912, in Malad, a son of Joseph Welton and Elizabeth Allen Ward.
He was reared and educated in Malad, and served a mission for the LDS Church to the northern states mission in 1934.
He married June Evans in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 15, 1939.
Moroni had farmed and ranched for many years near Malad in the Pocatello Valley, and in the Snowville area. He was a high priest in the Malad Sixth Ward.
He had served as a member of the Seven Presidents of the Seventies in the Malad Stake, executive secretary for Bishop Phil Gillies, Sunday school presidency, home teacher, and in many other capacities in the church. He and his wife had served a mission to Ireland in 1980-1981.
Moroni enjoyed working on his farm, and in his shop and yard. He loved having his family around him.
He is survived by his wife, June, of Malad; five daughters, Marcia (Lee) Waldron of Glendale, Arizona, Pat (Varsel) Christophersen of Malad, Launa (Kimball) Blackburn of West Bountiful, Utah, Annette (Ormond) Richter of Bountiful, Utah, Camille (Jerry) Hirshi of Riverside, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Ward of Malad, C. Golden (Emma) Ward of Malad, and Rulon A. (Rose) Ward of Sugar City, Idaho; three sisters, Lucille Carlson of Orem, Utah, Donna Bowen and Maydell (Lloyd) Barfuss, both of Malad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 12, 1998 at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Marvin Pett officiating.
