JOHN LEO ROBERTS

John Leo Roberts, age 68, died Oct. 24th in California

John Leo Roberts, age 68, died October 24th [1969] at San Francisco after a long illness. Burial was at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in San Francisco.

Dr. Roberts was born at Malad March 16, 1901 to Agnes McDonald and John Morgan Roberts. He attended schools here and, after attending Stanford University, returned to Idaho where he taught school at Mountain View, Samaria and Malad. In 1927 he became principal of the Malad Junior High School. He married Therma Lincoln in 1929. He returned to California, earning bachelor and master’s degrees and a doctorate from the U. of C. in 1954. He was an advisor to the Civilian Conservation Corps, taught at George Washington High School, San Francisco, and in 1945 was appointed coordinator of the Department of Child Welfare in the San Francisco Public Schools. He held this position until his retirement in 1966.

Surviving are his widow; two daughters; a brother, LeRoy M. Roberts, Roy, Utah; sisters, Katherine M. Mallard, St. George, Utah, and May R. Anderson, Aberdeen.
