Joan Gleed Broman

BELLEVUE, WA – Joan Gleed Broman passed away July 22, 2004 in Bellevue, Washington, from cancer.

Joan was born May 25, 1944 in Malad City, Idaho, the sixth child of J. Guy and Nellie Sasser Gleed. She grew up in Malad, graduating from Malad High School in 1962. She earned academic honors as a senior and was acclaimed as the spirit of her class with her fun, bold and daring personality. She was a unique and integral part of the lives of her classmates. She was a runner-up to Miss Malad City at the pageant in 1962.

Following graduation from Stevens-Henager College of Business in Salt Lake City, she worked for a large insurance firm. While in Salt Lake City, she met Robert T. Broman. They were married on May 10, 1963. They lived in Salt Lake City until 1968 when they moved to the Seattle, Washington area where she remained until her death. She enjoyed living there and became very interested in the Native American culture of the Puget Sound region. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her husband, Robert T. Broman, Seattle; two sons, Terry J. (Cynthia) Broman, Lake Stevens, Washington and Richard J. (Stephanie) Broman, Monroe, Washington; two sisters, Joyce Knight, Littleton, Colorado, and Diane Treasure, Idaho Falls, Idaho; two brothers Darl S. Gleed, Malad, Idaho, and Blair L. Gleed, Layton, Utah; four grandchildren, Crystal J. Keen and Tanya N. Keen, Lake Stevens, Washington, Lauren A. Broman and Benjamin P. Broman, Monroe, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, J. Guy Gleed, Jr.

Funeral services will be held July 31, 2004 at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad City, Idaho. Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery.
