DOWNEY — Jesse D. Hubbard, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2001, of natural causes at the Ashley Care Center, Pocatello, Idaho.
He was born October 10, 1919, in Brigham City, Utah, son of William and Elfy Hubbard. He spent his young boyhood years growing up in Holbrook, Idaho.
Jesse married LaWana Perkins on November 29, 1940, and they were endowed in the Logan LDS Temple, Logan, Utah.
He was inducted into the Army on November 17, 1942, where he served in the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Hubbard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was self-employed as a contract milk hauler for Sego Milk, Pet Milk and Kraft Foods. He was also a butcher for Larson’s Market in Downey. Jesse was an active member in civic organizations in Downey (Blue Ribbon Beef 4-H Club, Downey Lions Club and the American Legion Post No. 21.)
His hobbies included fly fishing, hunting, tying flies, bowling and golfing.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Sanger of Boise, Allan and Nancy Hubbard of Pocatello, and Jean and Glen Atkison of Downey. He has 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaWana Hubbard and his parents, William Charles and Elfy Davis Hubbard, and six brothers. Jesse is survived by two brothers and a sister, LeGrand and Margaret Hubbard of Kaysville, Utah, Arnold Hubbard of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Faye and Osborn Nelson of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Funeral service will be held in the Downey LDS Church on Saturday, November 3, 2001, at 10 a.m. There will be a viewing at the church for family and friends at 9 a.m.
