Jerry Hodge Williams, 29 August 1913

RUPERT – Jerry Hodge Williams, 82, husband of Della S. Williams, and former Downey and Malad resident, passed away August 26, 1996 in the Cassia Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 29, 1913 in Samaria, ID, a son of Samuel and Annie Thomas Williams. He grew up and was educated in Malad, and was a graduate of Weber State Collegle, Utah.

He married Alice Petersen January 31, 1937 in Farmington, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on October 29, 1962. Alice passed away in 1967. He married Della Severe Schorzman, October 5, 1968 in Elko, NV.

Jerry serviced in the US Army during World War Ii and was stationed in the South Pacific Theater. He had been a school teacher and principal, had owned and operated the Farmers Equity grain business in Burley, managed the Downey Grain Growers Co-op, and for several years worked for the State of Idaho in the Dept. of Agriculture.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter—day Saints, and had served in the bishopric as a counselor, as ward clerk, Sunday school superintendent, home teacher and with his wife, Della, had been a temple officiator in the Boise LDS Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Della, of Rupert; one daughter, Jeri Hannah Williams of Rupert; two stepsons and spouses, Glen and Valorie Schorzman of Port Arthur, TX; Fred and Debra Schorzman of Beaverton, OR; two stepdaughters and spouses, Jeanie and Ben Hobbs of Rosebury, OR; Mary and Lou Haymond of Portland, OR; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one brother, William Williams of Salt Lake City, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held August 29 in the Rupert LDS Third Ward. Graveside services will be held August 30 in the Malad City Cemetery.
